REFLECTION

Experience
This module has been really fun, having experienced the previous two modules with Mr. Vinod, which are Typography and Advanced Typography, I feel evident that Publishing Design really pushed me as a student, not just because we got more freedom to execute our work but also the space we are given to learn and grow, it was really refreshing haha. Although some of the students including me would get tired after BCI class in the morning, I enjoyed the f2f classes on Tuesday as I get to learn more than any other day of the week. Not just that but I feel that through this module, my designer's eye improved tremendously, with trivial feedback sessions, I realized the improvements I could make quicker and automatically. Overall, I feel that I have grown a lot in this module from having an understanding of better layouts and designs for creating a book. I also feel proud to have something I designed from scratch, printed, and in my hands so it was truly a fruitful module experience, and would like to thank Mr. Vinod for that.

Observations
Throughout this module, I got to observe and learn intimately the variations and intricacy of book design which I never would have learned if not for this module. I learn that we need to be careful and extra detailed when it comes to book designing or else it would look out of place and appear to have an error once printed. The whole process of designing a book requires careful measurements of the book format from the beginning and once all the layout and designs are set and done, we are to proceed with printing our book which the printing color, textures, and materials we have to choose carefully and look out for. This module gave me a new set of graphic design information I didn't know I needed, and I will surely take away from it and apply it to the next graphic design module.

Findings
Throughout this module, I would have to say I found the tools and technicality of InDesign to be much easier to navigate and use than I thought it would be. I can say that in the beginning, around half a year ago, I was absolutely intimidated by InDesign, not only for its name of being a book and magazine designing software but also because of how unfamiliar I am with the software, despite having used it a couple of times already. This module, along with a couple of other modules has officially pushed me out of my comfort zone with so many tasks requiring a book or e-book. As of now, I find InDesign to be easy to use as I realized the possibility and outcome that could come our from mastering the software, it is simply endless.
